Heavy Régence

Heavy Régence, French, 18th century. 5" wide, antique "nic" finish with gold flecks, hand carved. This frame is an example of the transitional style of the Regency period (1715-1723). The light finish works especially well with Impressionist paintings and it has been used to great effect on the works of Degas and Monet.
